Important to Know:
1. Chengdu is served by two international airports: Shuangliu Airport and Tianfu Airport. Tianfu Airport is located approximately 50km from downtown, farther than Shuangliu Airport, requiring about an hour's drive or at least a 35-minute metro ride. Please consider this when booking your ticket and planning your journey.
2. Currently, all international flights depart from and arrive at Tianfu Airport.
Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is the major international airport serving Chengdu, as well as an important aviation hub to western China. For international tourists, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is a highly recommended gateway to Chengdu with its satisfying facilities, convenient transportation, and favorable visa policy. Since December 1, 2019, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport implemented 144-hour visa-free transit policy that holders of passports issued by 53 countries do not need a visa to Chengdu through Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.
Until September 2019, there are altogether 349 routes, 121 of which are international (regional) routes. It has access to 209 destinations and among them 131 are domestic cities. You can get to Chengdu by flight from most cities in China within 3h.

There are two terminals in Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. They are about 800m away. You can either walk (about 10min) or take metro line 10 to transfer between them.

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is located in the southwest of Chengdu, about 19 kilometers away from Tianfu Square - Chengdu center. The airport is connected with downtown through highway which takes about 40 minutes by taxi. You can also take a metro to get there but you may need several transfers and about 50 minutes. Meanwhile, it is about 145 kilometers to Leshan Giant Buddha and 182 kilometers to Mount Emei.

The closing time for check-in domestic flight will be adjusted from 30 minutes before departure to 45 minutes before departure from October 25, 2015. Please arrange your time properly to catch your flight.

Generally speaking, people will spend 1-2 days exploring Chengdu excluding the arrival and departure days. On the first day, you can go meet the cute pandas in Chengdu Panda Base in the morning. After that, it is about dinner time, you can try some local snacks in Jinli Old Street or have a hot pot near Chunxi Road.
